Mixing prints is one of my favorite ways to make an outfit more interesting. I found this striped a-line skirt at Forever21 a few months ago, and instantly had it in mind for Paris, although I have been wearing it a lot before my trip. I think this type of skirt is a wardrobe essential, it's perfect to wear with a tucked in shirt or crop top, and I love the volume and length. I also love, love, love skirts with pockets. I paired the striped skirt with this plaid moto-jacket I got on sale in December, as I've mentioned before (and you may have noticed) I am obsessed with moto jackets. I added the floral platform pumps for a more "Springy " look. If you struggle with mixing prints, here are a few of my personal guidelines:
1. Max. 3 prints - I usually don't try to mix more than 3 printed pieces together in one look
2. I like the printed pieces to be a similar tone - for example, all three prints I chose for this look are softer/more subdued colors (notice even the floral isn’t super bright). You could also try mixing 2 more subdued prints and one brighter one.
3. Accessorize – If I am going to do 3 printed pieces in an outfit, usually at least one of them is an accessory such as a printed pair of shoes or cool purse. For example, a combo I love is a striped tee, plaid button up shirt/jacket and leopard print flats.
Have an amazing Monday!
