I love incorporating a baseball hat into a feminine yet casual outfit. I think one of the key things for me when it comes to styling a hat is my hair. I’m not just throwing it into a messy bun or whatever and then putting a hat on. I usually either curl it, wear it straight, or put it into a cute side braid. For this look, I also chose to do a smoky eye for my makeup (and threw on heels), so this is not your typical ‘throw on a hat’ run to the grocery store look.
What partially inspired this outfit was my desire to balance out this girly bright pink hand-embroidered bag by pairing it with an all-black outfit, hat and chain (my love of contrasting elements yet again). The bag (which I got in London) provides a pop of colour and gives the look a more summer feel.
I would also wear a hat with a casual maxi dress, or jeans and flats, and I love a hat with a nice leather jacket. This may be obvious, but a black (or navy) hat is the easiest to wear. New York Yankees hats are kinda my fave, check out an all-black one on my WANTED page. As ridiculous as this probably sounds, sometimes I forget that the hat is even associated with the sport of baseball. I am lucky to have actually been to a Yankees game in New York and had the best time (baseball on tv is another story - ie extreme boredom).
