Lately I have been loving the idea of mixing delicate with edgy. I got this sheer top from a vintage market in London (seriously London has the best shopping). It is very light-weight, with a crepe-like texture and there appears to be gold thread weaved into the fabric in the more solid parts of the top (which you can see it if you look closely at the last pic in this post).
Sheer tops are sometimes the most beautiful and yet the most difficult to wear, many people struggle with the "but what do I put under this?" dilemma. Putting a tank top underneath as I've done here is an easy solution, but I would also put this over a tighter-fitting (tank-top style) maxi dress.
Currently, I've been wearing this top with my ripped jeans to add a little rawness to it. Mixing something delicate and feminine with something raw and edgy is one of my favorite ways to add interest to an outfit. I am starting to notice how obsessed I am with mixing unexpected elements and how it plays a key role in my style and is part of who I am. I love traditional 'girly-girl' things but I also love rips, toques and the occasional black lipstick.
Farah found this beautiful flower tree to act as the backdrop for this look. We actually waited a half hour in the rain eating icecream sundaes just so we could shoot in front of it LOL - that's dedication.
Have a lovely Thursday!
